Please Help Me Understand: The Passive Voice in Scripts & Audios
Post Body

Alright y'all, I fully recognize and admit that there is a very real possibility that I'm just a nitpicky cunt and no one else even notices this. But I find that there is a lot of passive voice in scripts and audios, and I often wonder if it's purely a stylistic choice, or if that type of phrasing is a turn on in its own right.

I'm a language nerd and I didn't realize what a major psychotic fuckin hatred I have for passive voice until I noticed that it just keeps. showing. up. in GWA content that I am otherwise totally into. Like, I'll be reading a script or listening to an audio and it's great, I'm here for it, this is going to end well, and then BOOM, overt passive voice, and the whole thing is ruined for me.

Now, not all passive voice is bad, obviously. But let me give an example of what I'm talking about. Invariably, I'll come across something like this:

"I want to be fucked by you." / "You want to be fucked by me." (Or whatever other sexy activity, or the interrogatory of same.)

Now, if the "by me" / "by you" bit was not there, I could totally get that. The wanting to be fucked (or whatever) is the point; who does it is less important in that context. But if you're going to specify the who, then why not use the more direct and active phrasing: "I want you to fuck me" / "You want me to fuck you"?

Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just a fucking weirdo?
