What are some expectations for commenting on someone's performance?

Post Body

Hi GWAB, this question came to me as I looked back on some of my previous comments on the audios I enjoyed. I realized some of my responses were a bit long, but I'm not sure if that is seen as a good thing or just plain annoying. Thus, my questions are:

  • What is your preferred length of response to an audio? Do you enjoy short comments such as "wow that was enjoyable" or a few sentences describing what specifically someone enjoys about your performance?
  • What are some compliments you like to hear that don't come across as creepy or rude? I like to show my appreciation for the hard work people put into their audios, but I would hate to to find out that I made someone feel uncomfortable with words that were intended to be kind, so what are the dos and don'ts about stating one's appreciation?
  • Do you prefer receiving positive messages in the comments, anonymous response forms, or by private message? Is PM'ing someone to say you enjoyed their work rude or inappropriate? (and yes I know dick pics are not appropriate by any means)

I'm still new to GWA, but I want to make sure that I'm doing everything in my power to be respectful to performers and that I am doing what is expected of me to ensure that everyone can enjoy themselves in this delightful community!
