What are the reasons for making one's own subreddit?

The title speaks for itself! Would you lovely people explain the reasons for why a person would start their own sub, versus posting on their own page?
Does it have something to do with visibility of their posts by followers? Does it just make specific posts easier to find? What does a subreddit have that one's own profile doesn't?
