How Processed Do You Like Your Sexy Audio? [Tech Chat][Gear]

Tl; Dr - From listener and creative perspectives: What do you think about background noise/room tone in your erotic audio? Do you like hearing it? Do you get rid of it the way you would for a pro recording? Do you do things differently based on the content?

---

I have done a lot of Voice-over processing professionally and have a pretty solid setup at home (Shure SM7B with a CloudLifter, Scarlet 2i2).

So when I'm recording on that I can pretty much annihilate roomtone and most background noises that aren't sharply intrusive, then I run my voice through a chain that includes a DeEsser, parametric EQ, and multiband compressor.

But I feel like there's a certain... intimacy in this kind of audio where having it be too clean/professional sometime ends up feeling artificial. Maybe I have a soft spot in my heart for the phone quality sidetone from all the phone sex I had in my formative years. So for my first file I looped a 10 second sample of room tone, and put it BACK in under the voice at a lower volume. I liked the effect.

Naturally, for something like what u/VoiceLikeCandy is doing, You'd want to clean as much as possible and mix with music/bg from as close to sterile, professional settings as possible, but for less formal stuff, I don't know how people feel/think by default. I guess I'm wondering from both listener and creator perspectives, what and how much do you think about processing your background noise?
