It's about to be my cake day in a few days, and I've thought about it and about what's been up during the past few years I've been here. I have something ready to post, but this is not about that - that little cake that will show up has a candle in it, and when I blow it out I get to make a wish.
My wish is that all of you who feel that little tingle in your tummy, who feel that curious desire leavened with skepticism, that you at least move up next to what you're interested in and have another sniff.
If you listen to GWA audios and you feel inspired to write something no one's doing, or pinpoint something to say how hot it is... do it, write it. Maybe your face will be flush when it's done, mine was the first time, but maybe you're letting out something pure and passionate that's been in there for a long time. If it's coming from the heart and from personal lust, there will be genuine energy in what you're writing, and it will feel attractive and sexy to read and perform.
If you're so close to want to record but you think you're too shy or not as striking or outgoing or couldn't make as many recordings as someone... give it a go anyway, if you can and want to. Or at least know that a) those things don't disqualify you and b) many, many people find that to be an extra spice that they appreciate a whole lot. If you record something and you're not happy about how it turns out, you don't need to do anything else with it. But trust me when I say that I've seen so many things that the person was convinced wasn't good and that people still liked very much.
If you're a lurker and appreciate someone but you're worried about telling them... take a deep breath and tell them. Hearing that you liked something is literally what keeps people going. If they gave you some pleasure, be kind and give them the benefit of knowing. If you're worried about "having to be explicit" - you don't have to be explicit at all; even if someone happens to mention that they like that, they will appreciate you telling them you enjoyed whatever it was you enjoyed, and it doesn't have to get more detailed than that.
I've been here for a while now and I've taken some of these risks and the funny thing about them is that no matter how safe I usually am or how tingly it felt beforehand, I didn't ever regret taking them. I have done things here that changed my life and that made me realize I could do things I didn't think I could do. If you're thinking about something like that for yourself, I wish you good luck.
