GWA Goes Gaming
Post Body

Hey folx, I have tried this once or twice before, but I figured with the new year approaching and more and more people joining up to GWA and backstage as a whole I might give it another shot.

So one of my many passions is games of all sorts, but I've got a particular affinity to tabletop roleplaying games, I feel like they're an interesting take on games and the idea of social discussions through games is fun for me. One of the things that used to enjoy quite a lot was listening to Actual Play podcasts, where people rolled dice and shared their gaming experience and world with anyone who would listen, but I haven't had a chance to do so for awhile.

Thus I come to my proposal, I'd like to invite people who are interested (Probably 3-5 players) to join me in making this a reality. But there are so many games to choose from how could one possibly choose? This is where you lovely people come in, I have set up a poll:

HERE!

So anyone who wishes to can vote. Here's a quick rundown of the options:

Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition: The OG of tabletop games, high fantasy, killing monsters and taking their things to better the world. After watching Critical Role I think this can absolutely be an interesting listening experience for people.

Shadowrun 5th/Anarchy: The year is 2075 and corporations run the world. An event known as the Awakening has brought magic back into the world as well as changing people into trolls, orks, dwarves, elves and more, but what if you don't accept the world as it is? What if you don't want to serve a corporation until your mandated retirement? In the shadows, you can do what you want. A cyberpunk heist game, you play Shadowrunners, individuals with extra-legal skills who use them to make money outside of society structure. 5th edition is more detailed and grainy, but Anarchy itself is a rules-light version that has recently come out if you don't want to deal with everything 5th edition brings.

Apocalypse World: A rules-lightish system about the post apocalypse. Things were better once, but no one alive today except the elderly remember, and they're crazy, probably. You play interesting, sexy, dangerous, weird people trying to stay alive and maybe even flourish in the world that's ended, but also just begun.

Masks: The next Generation Superheroes are real, have been for three generations, of course, you're also a teenager, parents nagging you, school bringing you down, and on top of that everyone telling you who you're supposed to be. You've got all these powers, but protecting the city is the only freedom you've actually got, until you see the Golden Generation looking down at you. How will you handle the pressure?

Burning Wheel: A game about people, crafting their lives from birth, it's a little grittier than most of these games. Focused on about 12th century Europe, there are some indications of fantasy elements, but for the most part it's about fighting for what you believe in and using those beliefs to change the world in new and interesting ways

Monsterhearts: In a small town out of the way of most anyone, monsters live and go to school, deal with teenage angst, sex, violence, and humans around them.

Urban Shadows: The world is a dark place, with lots of things that go bump in the night. This city has things living in the shadows, including you. A game of fantastic urban politics and trouble finding you.

Dogs in the Vineyard: You are the Watchdogs of the Faith, the chosen of the Tree of Life. Every decision you make is right and when you go into a town to deliver the mail, bless babies and set things right, the last thing you want to see is Demons, but they're always around. It only takes one slip up to let the Demons in, and doggon'it, you're the ones who've got to usher them out. Good thing you've got your Good Book, your jacket, and your big ass gun.

These are the options that I've got just based on what books I have access to.

I'm more than willing to bring in new people to the hobby and experienced veterans alike. I can provide all of the tools needed. If you're at all interested, just comment below or send me a PM, and hopefully we can sort out a time that works for everybody.

Thanks for your time. Orion
