‘Tales from the Scrypt’ [Scripts] [Questionnaire] by /u/errinerung
Author Summary
Galanthia is in Questionnaire
Post Body

That’s pretty bold of me to do this questionnaire when I have only eight scripts in my Pastebin (yet), but a) /u/errinerung is like my kink twin and answering her questions is, basically, chatting with her, which feels really nice, and b) I wanted to. :D

What made you start writing scripts? Did you do any other sorts of writing in the past?

I wanted to hang out with the cool kids at this fantastic friendly place, but absolutely didn’t see myself recording. On the other hand, I loved writing. Pure and chaste, from afar; I haven’t written much myself. Although in elementary school my friend and I wrote a novel about a prehistoric boy fighting for survival in the jungle along with his little friend the lynx. The boy’s name was Potassium (I’m serious). I have no idea what we were thinking.

Where do you get your ideas? (I KNOW SUCH A BROAD QUESTION SORRY)

A broad answer to a broad question: history, literature, and everything else. A random item sitting on my desk, a tune stuck in my head, some juicy tag seen at GWA… :-) Sometimes a certain voice heard here; I hear it and start thinking what would work best with it.

Do you read erotic fiction? Any favorites?

Fanfiction. :D For some reason the piece I remember the best, by title, is ‘Twenty Years Wiser’ by Stewardess. It was one of the first good ones (IMO) I ever read and I really liked it.

Who is your favorite Real Life author (any genre)? Go ahead, pick a few. I hate picking one favorite.

Ovid, Shakespeare, Pushkin, Dumas père , Dickens, Galsworthy, Jerome K. Jerome, Eco, Pérez-Reverte, to name a few.

Can you think of a particular sex or romantic scene from literature (or maybe a movie or other medium) that you really enjoyed? What made it so damn hot? Maybe it's not even a sex scene, maybe it's just a scene with lots of wonderful tension that you really wish turned into a sex scene...

‘Gone with the Wind’ (the book). Rhett proposing to Scarlett, the kissing part. Oooh, that was good! The description of the kiss, and the whole idea of a gentleman who knows what he is doing…

Do you have a writing ritual? (When/where do you write, do you drink something while writing, listen to music etc)

Keyboard! I don’t have a ritual, but I NEED my keyboard. I typed a short story on my tablet once, and it was not fun (the typing part). And the paper won’t do because I rewrite and shift things a lot.

How long does it generally take you to write a script?

From a day to three months.

Do you work on multiple scripts at the same time, or do you have to finish one before you can start another?

Multiple scripts all the time. They even all are in one and the same Word file. When I get stuck with one, I move on to another. Rinse & repeat.

Do you have a script you really want to write, but are having trouble finishing or even starting?

A sweetest lady who is no longer here asked me to write something for her once, and I felt so overwhelmed, that I played with a whole bunch of ideas and none seemed worthy of her. So, I never actually finished anything, and then she had to delete her account, and I don’t have a chance to make it up to her in any way. I cannot tell how sorry I am.

What's the hardest part of script writing for you?

The hardest – but also the most interesting – would be doing my homework (if the script requires one), double checking for factual errors, browsing dictionaries to make sure that there are no anachronisms, etc.

How do you deal with writer's block?

I don’t. It comes and goes as it pleases, and there’s nothing to be done, because forced writing is the worst.

What's your editing process like? Do you find it hard to tell when a script is "done"?

It’s never done. At one point you just have it learned by heart and get absolutely sick of it; that would be the moment when you post in on Pastebin & GWA and try to banish it from your mind.

Editing is just rereading it to no end, changing few words here and there, until you think it’s DONE… Oh, wait!..

Do you prefer writing for a male or female voice? For a dom or a sub voice? Do you find any of these more difficult to write than the others? Why?

Male & dom. Female characters for some reason never turn out the way I want. It’s very hard to pin down why; I tried.

Have you ever written a script and then decided not to post it? If so, why? You should probably just post it, man.

There was this script I was about to post, but at that very moment another author posted their script on a similar subject, and it was great, it got noticed and filled more than once. I felt like I should wait a bit before posting mine; still waiting. :D

Tell us about a script (or even just a line) on GWA that you heard or read and went, "damn, I wish I'd written that!"

I am still haunted by /u/korranasami ‘s line ‘Come with it or on it!’ from This Is Sparta - Script :D That was also the day I fell in love with the voice of /u/everdistant_utopia and his dedication and commitment to sound effects (Real massaging oil! Chocolate bars! OK, the chocolate bar came much later): This Is Sparta – Script Fill

And I LOVE Just a Voice by /u/tarkustrooper and Language Lesson & SI by /u/Listening_Always. I literally cannot get enough of the fills.

Do you think you have a catchphrase - as in, a line or action you end up using frequently in your scripts?

It’s a bit early for me to talk about catchphrases, but I’d say that it’s rambling, disjunctive questions (They sound pretty neat, don’t they?) and harsh realism.

Titles - how do you come up with them? Teach me, please.

When someone teaches you, you will share, right? :-) I usually just use either a line from the script or the most general answer to the question ‘What is this script about?’

Are there any words you dislike? Ditto tags. It doesn't even have to be an idea you dislike - example; I personally detest the word/tag creampie, even though I really like the idea it represents.

Tits (absolutely adore the idea, though). Those are breasts, breasts! ‘Breasts’ have something poetical and musical about them (it’s the ‘s-t-s’ sound combination, I think). It’s not that I don’t enjoy a good audio with tits in it; I do. :P

Do you spell it "cum" or "come"?

Come.

Has a performer ever done something you weren't expecting (in an improv section, or just with tone etc) in one of your scripts? Tell us about that.

Oh yes, they do something I don’t expect every time they decide to record my scripts in the first place.

Have you ever been surprised by the reaction to a script or its performance? How so?

No.

Do you write with specific voices in mind? Have you ever gotten up the nerve to ask one of those voices to do one of your scripts?

Often. Never. :D Unless people openly request something at the GWA Script Guild or Backstage, and then it’s all on them, haha.

When you write, do you tend to self-insert as the listener or the speaker? Or neither?

Speaker.

You get to actually live out one of your scripts in real life. Which one do you pick? Why?

And I get to be a guy for that, too, for a while? Neat! :D Then Care to Lie with a Prince? I like the idea of treating a girl really nice. The other way around wouldn’t be bad either.

If the answer to #24 isn't also your favorite script, what is your favorite script? Why? (Pretty please link the answers to both 24 and 25 in your post :)

Ghost Story, or If Only I Had a Body I love historical stuff, and this one has, perhaps, as much history as it is humanely possible to cram into 15 minutes script, LOL – and a built-in British accent! And it rhymes so well with the concept of audio porn, though I say so myself. :P

Many thanks to /u/errinerung for a great questionnaire! :-) I am really curious what other writers' and /u/errinerung's own answers would be.

EDIT: Formatting.
