With that pesky American Thanksgiving upon us, I am thankful for the usual things in my life (my small zoo of animals, the fact that I'm in more or less good health, the roof over my head, my family, those sorts of things, I wanted to take a moment to say that I'm thankful for a very important group of people.
You.
It's not been quite a month since I started this adventure, with about a month before of semi-lurking (I knew about GWA, but I hadn't been able to quite brave diving in full force just yet. That said, a lot of audios I had been listening to pointed here). The day I decided to dive in head first was the day I both started my Reddit account and recorded my first audio.
Since then, this has been nothing short of a freeing experience - it's done wonders for my self esteem (and oddly enough, my anxiety, even if I'm forced to record around roommates vacating the apartment, and that constant worry they're going to be home sooner rather than later), and I've been exposed (pun perhaps intended) to not just some wonderful talent here, but some wonderful people. I'm still a bit on the shy side (folks on TeamSpeak have learned that, as I tend to be pretty quiet most of the time), but I've definitely felt overwhelmingly accepted as myself, which is something that for a long time, I thought was only possible with a few select people.
I look forward, over the next coming months, to get to know folks a bit better, and push at my limits a bit more - I've done a couple scripts, for instance, but I'm still terribly afraid of trying my hand at writing one. I'd love to do collaborations, as well, but I know well enough that Rome wasn't built in a day.
That said, I'm thankful for you lovely folks being just who you are, and you have been people. So regardless of if tomorrow will be Thanksgiving, Retail Hell Eve, or just plain Thursday, have a drink on me (after all, what kind of wench would I be without knowing where the rum is?)
