Greetings, elders and wise :-).
So I guess I qualify for the Sad Gold medal (blush). Not in the sense of 'boo-hoo, soembody lend me a gas oven'. I mean in the sense of 'life? Yeah - I've heard of that...' (blush).
Er - what did he say?
Hmmm. Let's start again (blushes again).
So it's Xmas Eve. I'm not out at some incredible party, and I'm not getting drunk and trying to remember where I hid the presents I put little stickers on to pretend someone got for me <--- Humour. Well, it is if you're laughing :-). Nope - I'm registering a domain for Tatters.
It's Xmas Eve, and I'm registering a Domain. See what I mean about Sad? yes, and Geek-Sad? :-P
See, I was talking to a friend (yes, friend. I do have at least one. OK - acquaintance. I'd hate to ruin her street cred :-P). She'd been through something recently, and it had seemed apt to send 'The Day we Didn't' her way.
No. I'm not telling you what she'd been through. That's hers. Unfortunately. And I'm honoured she shared it with me.
Anyway, it turned out that 'The Day we Didn't' had helped her some. Or given her a pause of breath to help herself, maybe. And she'd shared Day on FB. Only privately, with her friends, but she'd shared it. And she asked if I could comment on it to let people know I didn;t mind her sharing it.
Hence the domain :-).
See, to have a FB account, as far as I can tell, you need an email address. And I'm not here, or there, to commit the Great Sin of Marketing in respect of GWA - so Tatters needed an email address. One not connected with my other email addresses.
No. I don't use free email accounts like gmail and hotmail. Don't trust 'em (blush).
So there I was, Xmas Eve, registering a domain. To add an email address to ([email protected], if anyone wants it).
But like old Bilbo once said. It's a dangerous thing, setting even one foot outside your front door. And, it turns out, so is registering a domain. Well, it is if you're Sad. Especially Geek Sad (blush).
Because it got me thinking, this domain. It got me thinking how GWA has a (perfectly justified, and I do push the edges sometimes I know) rule about not editorialising on posts. Even if sometimes I'd like to say a bit more about how Tatters' scribbles happen. And how some folk have said my List of Lists isn't easy to navigate (to be fair, non-GWA folks). And... well, and some other ands.
So it turned out I wasn;t just registering a domain on Xmas Eve. It turned out I was building a web site as well.
Like I said. I could do Sad for the Olympics, and get an easy Gold (blush).
Anyway. It's not really focussed on folk who are already GWA aware - it's more for those I know (er, and don't know) who aren't, and to give them a way in to TatterJack at GWA. Well, and any other places he may wander - after all, if I wanted to write a non-erotic Kat episode to link two erotic ones, I couldn't post the non-erotic one at GWA, now could I (runs screaming from the idea of a Kat book under his 'other' name, which would blow his cover, or a Kat book under Tatters' name)? And it's still a Work in Progress. But if anyone wants to take a look at www.tatterjack.com, I'd be interested in your thoughts. Not saying I'll actually bloody listen, mind (I'm still Tatters, after all (blush)) - but I'd be very interested :-)).
