any ways to stop the taxi bug when modding cars?

i modded my gta iv with changing the police car into a black and white crown vic but after this the taxi bug started, i saw on forums that it is because of the ram limit not being able to handle high poly cars so it reverts to the lightest car on gta iv which is a taxi and police cars. The modded car model exceeds 3mb(the regular car only cost 500kb). it was over detailed and not optimized for gta iv

any tips on how to fix this, or any links to a gta iv police crown vic mod that doesnt exceed 15000 vertices
