Unofficial GRE scores : 159 V, 168 Q
Post Body

Hi all,

Edit 2: Got the official scores today: 159 V, 168 Q, 4.5 AWA

I had been following this sub for a while, and I learnt a lot from it during my preparation. So I thought I would just share my experience in reciprocation.

I had QVQVQ. The test timing was in the afternoon for me, so I had lunch like an hour before the exam, and that turned out to not be that good (as in I should have had lunch much before that) because I was sort of sleepy in the first half of the test, i.e., before the break. I was really having a hard time focusing on the questions, and this resulted in me having no time to revise the answers in the 1st Quant section which is probably where the marks got deducted from. Similar story for the first verbal section, I actually skipped an entire long reading passage which had four questions in want of time. I solved one of the 4 questions because it was just asking about the main idea or something, and I figured it out pretty quickly. So my first verbal section was probably terrible tbh. So I am not really sure if the second verbal was an easy or medium for me. I recovered quite well after I washed my face and stuff during the break. I am pretty positive that in the second verbal, I would have at most 3-4 wrong. In the subsequent quants, I had around 8 minutes left on an average to revisit the questions coz I was really pumped up to do good after the break. I found the 1st quant section to be a bit harder than the others, but I am not sure if it was due to the questions being tougher or because I was drowsy. I think on average the quant section was only slightly harder than the PPs.

Regarding preparation, I followed Gregmat for the verbal part and I only had a few weeks (3 weeks) to prepare, but like I could devote my entire day to just GRE prep in that time. Quant was never really an issue for me because I have a Master's in mathematics xD. So I can't really talk much about Quant preparation. I didn't have any time at all for AWA preparation, so I literally just did all the preparation for it yesterday. I watched the 6 videos Gregmat has on Dedicated Argument essay, and around 4 videos on Dedicated Issue essay. So I am not really sure how AWA is gonna be, but I am pretty sure it's not great. I struggled a bit with time in AWA. I didn't get any time to revise any of the essays, so it's fair to assume a wholesome amount of grammatical mistakes in the essays. Regarding vocab, I did the Gregmat's 900 list, and I remember almost 100% of these and a fair bit (maybe ~35%) of the synonyms from the Pairing strategy heaven. I also did Magoosh's Common Words 1-6 thoroughly, and did Basic Words 1-4 but this was quite casual and I am sure I only remember around 75-80% of these. In the exam, I encountered I think 5-6 words I hadn't seen before.

Mocks: PP1 (9/9/2021) : 163 V, 170 Q PP2 (24/09/2021) : 158 V, 170 Q

I will update with the AWA score once it arrives. Best of luck for those preparing for the exam, and let me know if you want to know anything.

Edit 1: I incorrectly recalled PP2 Verbal score as 156. It was actually 158
