QUESTION: Analyze an Argument

In the Analyze and Argument writing task, do they want you to ONLY do the things they mention in the instructions? What I mean is, if the prompt says:

"Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. be sure to explain how the argument depends on the assumptions and what the implications are if the assumptions prove unwarranted."

Does this mean I should NOT develop ideas related to videncem questions and alternative explanations and ONLY focus on the assumptions piece?
