Homeworld has no more beacons of expansion after launching ark?

Was hoping someone could offer some insight for me. I launched my ark, started Weyworld (fun, enjoying it), but despite plenty of greyed out unexpanded area on Homeworld, I have no new beacon of expansion to open up more ground.
Is this standard? Am I just at the end of Homeworld expansion with the Weyworld launch? Or is my game glitching? I'm playing on IOS, with an ipad2.
