After seeing an increase in posts lately that are basically grifting off the GME community, I would like to remind you of rule 9 here in the Jungle. It currently reads*:
No Self-Promotion or Profiting from the community
This community has not been established for anyone to profit off of, and will be protected from such.
Social media links are allowed, but no direct payment or fundraising links are allowed (including secondary links meant to bypass the rule). No crowdsourcing campaigns.
No direct sales or MLM or any of that.
*Previously this rule was written in a way that left a gray area open to interpretation. It read "Self promotion minimally allowed (with limits)".. but I have edited the rule's title to read as listed above.
Posts found to be in violation of this rule will be removed and approval status will be revoked for repeat offenders (and those seeking to utilize loopholes to link to their sites).
So what is allowed?
- Original Content (OC) directly uploaded to reddit (music, videos, memes, etc.)
- Relevant, educational third party links to OC which are non-monetized (as long as the linked site is free of monetized links as well)
- Free NFT trades within the rules of the community
- Promoting Gamestop socials, sales, personalities, etc that helps promote the brand we're invested in
- Links to relevant MSM articles are still allowed, but be conscious of your clicks and who is profiting from them!
What's NOT allowed?
- Links to GoFundMe, Kickstarter, or any other crowdsourcing campaign site (including posting links to sites that contain such links therein)
- Links to digital wallets, with the obvious exception of Gamestop wallet (so Venmo, Cashapp, etc)
- Monetized YouTube videos
- Monetized Social Media Accounts (especially those that gather followers)
- Gathering followers in general to promote a brand/product/ticker
- Twitter posts of users with no, or little, tie to GME. (Even C-Suite tweets like those from RC need to be relevant to GME)
- Basically anything/anyone else making money off the GME community (even if it is to support a cause)
I've seen many people come and go here (the royal "here", not like in the Jungle), claiming to be genuine, but ultimately seeking to turn a profit from the headcount in these GME communities. It's not always a popular opinion, but we will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy for grifters. Thanks for understanding what it takes to make (and keep) a comfortable community <3
