I’ve been looking at getting the new TRD pro, ranger raptor or the canyon AEV. Pretty much always came back to the canyon and decided that’s the one.
However, I read an article this morning where they did a test drive on it and said despite being more light footed than they’ve ever been in a drive test, the best they averaged was 13.2mpg?
I was kind of shocked by that and assumed it would be more like 17-18ish? Anyone know anything more about the mpg for these or read anything different?
Thanks.
Yea my colorado does that a little bit. Some days my average will be mid 20s driving like a normal person, the. The next day i get 15, even if i try to drive like a grandma lol. Must just be a little software bug
They are in the same realm of trucks as those trucks, so you are gonna get similar gas mileage. these trucks have large tires, and more offroad ready suspension. They are purpose built for being offroaders, not daily street trucks. RAM TRXs and Raptor Rs are just built for going fast offroad, these mid sizes are more trail focused so they dont need crazy horsepower.
If you want 20 MPG, get a regular tacoma, regular ranger or Colorado Z71/Canyon AT4. Or better yet, an SUV, they will definitely get more gas mileage. Performance trucks never have been, and never will be fuel efficient vehicle

Well. 35s are substantially bigger, and lifts create a lot more drag. On my 3/4 ton i lost 4 MPG going from 32s to 35s. And that truck has a lot more power to rotate those tires with.
