Am I being too ambitious?

Hi all, So I have quite a bit of time on my side (think gap year sort of affair, Iām applying to the army in fall) and as someone who loves languages I wanted to learn french after college.
For context I got a 7 in my gcse spanish but I was regularly getting 8-9s in mock exams and class work. Iām dedicated and could easily spend 3-4 hours studying, am I being unreasonable to think I could sit a french GCSE in 1-1.5 years of study?
