Tip 25 - Use memory tricks to remember words or meanings
If you struggle to remember words or definitions try and create mnemonics or rhymes to help them stay in your brain. An example of a mnemonic is BIDMAS, which you will likely recognise from maths. There is also “My Very Evil Mother Just Swatted Uncle’s Nose” for the order of the planets from the sun in physics! Try linking together terms into one larger one so that you are able to remember more just by memorizing one word. Using rhymes can also help too, if you make one don’t forget to share it with someone as it could help them too! Possibly some unethical life advice here but if something helps you remember a term or definition then you can use it as long as it stays in your head. We were taught some possibly inappropriate (but not really bad) mnemonics and tricks in some lessons, but it actually meant we remembered them more easily as it made us laugh and respond. No I won’t be including them in this post :)
What is a mnemonic? A mnemonic is a tool that helps us remember certain facts or large amounts of information. They can come in the form of a song, rhyme, acronym, image, phrase, or sentence. Mnemonics help us remember facts and are particularly useful when the order of things is import - Source: yourdictionary.com
