Hi all,
just wanted to voice a general observations made over the past weeks in this subreddit and see what other members here think and discuss.
- M4F posts tend to get generally downvoted. As Males, are we feeling that we're in competition with all other M's on this post? I struggle to think of the "downvote equivalent" of being in a pub/social setting when you don't agree with that person - glowering at them? What is driving the downvote thought process?
- In contrast to 1, F4M posts are upvoted, with pretty chunky differences. This makes sense when considering the assumed reddit sex ratio of 9:1 M:F, but is it also driving across a message that this is a very male-dominated sub-reddit along with the implied "feeding frenzy of DMs" when a woman places an F4M/F4F post? Could this lead to less F4M posts in time, since it does not come across as an F4M friendly place? Will F's describe GBr4r as "that place where I posted and I just got sent lots and lots of messages with nudes in them" ? Or perhaps that's all of reddit?
- Tying into 1 and 2, am observing that the majority of posts in this sub-reddit seems to be more along the lines of dirtyr4r. Nothing wrong with this, but again, is this changing the way folk view GBr4r? I note that there are posts from UK folks in /r4r and /foreveralonedating etc. subreddits - this could be due to posters not wanting to be limited to the UK, but can it also be driven by points 1 and 2? Some posters are now referring to this trend in particular, feeling that they may be out of place, but still posting here.
Q: Combining 1-3, does this mean the subreddit is getting a particular image/style of post that can be excluding others or pushing them towards using other subreddits, whilst only leading to (and being welcoming to?) posts of a certain nature? This may lead to a point where gbr4r becomes pretty monocultured, and eventually fade out.
Should there be a wider policy being set up to go alongside the rules?
