Probably wrong subreddit, but, do I have the wrong mouse?
Post Body

So, please bear with a slightly lost redditor. I have a Logitech G5 (yes, you read that correctly) mouse. It's served me many, many years, and as you probably just guessed I'm a programmer who casually games, not a serious gamer. (Thus i also swap between OSX and Windows and Linux ..a lot)

It is finally time to retire the old beast, long has it outlived every single other piece of hardware I've had.

My sweet boyfriend did some research, and decided the G502SE Hero was the closest thing in weight and bought me one. I like RGB, so okay eyes the white and the angles

To my surprise, it's not the angles or the "how many buttons now?" that make me hesitant to keep it, but a couple things that make me wonder if I have the wrong mouse.

  1. The "drag". If I slide my old G5 across the pad, it's like a knife through hot butter. It's smooth, without friction. If I slide the G502SE across, even using it with less weights for a lighter mouse than I am used to, it feels like I'm dragging across fine sandpaper. There's resistance.
  2. With the resistance of the drag in motion, comes noise. It's LOUD as heck to drag around the pad.

The buttons other than main left and right are a little loud for my tastes too but they're brand new, and work better than my old mouse and that doesn't drive me up the wall either.

Do i have the wrong mouse because this is absolutely for a heavier gamer than someone like myself, or is there a way to resolve 1 and 2? (or is it a break in period it's been so many years I forgot that's a thing?)
