I mean no flame here. I understand it's a tough time for the team, and people are asking what could change for the better.
To me, Dylan Falco is the only part of G2 that could be upgraded. It's not even that he's a bad coach. Put him on Fnatic, and he'll fit in perfectly fine there. Dylan is the ideal coach for a team that wants to play down the middle stock standard. I can't believe that Caps, BB, Mikyx, and Yike, were like, yeah, let's run back this absolute garbage Nocturne Orianna comp 3 times and try to problem solve how it's getting wrecked every time.
Caps' Sylas is a literal tournament defining pick, and we have to wait until the absolute last possible moment to even see it? Pull out that draft against T1, and the BLG series never even happens. Hell, pull out that draft in game 1 against BLG, and the entire series looks different.
Not only that, every team afterwards has to consider the pick, giving so much more room to maneuver in draft.
How do you not ban skarner when it's absolutely destroying you every time you play against it?
The issue isn't Mikyx or Yike. Dylan is hamstringing his team's biggest assets by insisting that they play a specific way. He even said on EUphoria he doesn't think random picks is a way to be successful against Asian teams. I'm not sure if he noticed, but that's the only way the Asian teams lost at Worlds (looking at you Nunu). The tragedy is that this is one of G2's biggest strenghts. Double edged sword? Sure. But when your macro has improved this much and is so strong, you have to take the gamble.
If the boys were allowed to play their League of Legends, there is no doubt in my mind that they would have made it to quarter finals. It's so deeply sad to take a player like Caps to worlds and suck all the joy out of him.
Orianna. Unreal.
