Would a completely cashless and currency-less society be possible within the next century?

The title speaks for it self but I was curious on what everyone thought. Do you believe a global community that is completely cashless, and one that shares a single global currency be possible. I'm also curious as to what you guys think on how it could effect other areas of society. Personally, as technology advances the idea of a cashless society is seemingly inevitable. However do I think a global currency is possible? In my opinion I also think this will happen within the next century. The first area of achieveing this would be centred around faster transport, allowing for faster travel and an easier form of trade cutting costs and the need of single country currencies. Just a thought I had in the late hours of the night.
