These are the two forces at play in our final reality. Both seem to be speeding up in their potential to destroy or save us. I think the powers that be know that Superintelligence, while risky, is the only genie that can grant our wish to fix the environment. The environmental news has been especially dismal the last few months. The new problems of warming are massive and seem to threaten speeding up greatly. By 2030 catastrophic cascading effects of environmental damage will have claimed civilization or we must have super AI.
