After electoral landslides in 2016 and 2021, the SNP-majority Scottish Government agrees with a Conservative-minority UK government to hold a second referendum.

The referendum passes with a 55-45 result (or similar) which LEDs Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Salmond to led wild celebrations in Edinburgh.

The UK government says that the result is illegitimate, claiming the SNP bribed the electoral commission, the returning officer denies this.

As the governments will not negotiate the Scottish Government declares independence, all British assets in Scotland immediately become de-facto Scottish assets, including trident nuclear missiles.

The EU except Spain and Germany recognise independence, as do most countries worldwide, except the US, UK, Commonwealth and Israel.

The day following independence a UK-led coalition including the US invades Scotland?
