When I first watched Fruits Basket I was disgusted by the thought of a relationship between Kyo and Tohru. I preffered Yuki and Tohru, and here is why. Kyo was awful to her. Yuki was closed off (also not the healthiest) but always very polite and kind to Tohru. My opinion definitely changed as the series went on, watching how hard Kyo fought to be kinder, especially since nobody but Tohru had been to him. But initially, does anyone feel the same? That Kyo and Tohru's would have been an unbelievably destructive relationship if neither had changed? And did anyone else ship Yuki and Tohru at the very beginning? In fact, if Momiji closed the age gap, I think that'd have been the healthiest relationship of them all. But hey, the heart wants what it wants. -^ Can you think of any other relationships in the show you thought, "oh boy this is going to end so badly" but changed your mind throughout the show AND visa versa?

The “I can fix him” trope can be toxic though. Not everyone deserves a redemption arch, like Akito for example
