My husband and I are planning a two week road trip from Detroit Michigan to Miami Florida. It is our 10 year anniversary and money is tight. We want to see and do as much as possible on our way down and the return trip. We enjoy rock hounding, hiking, great food (especially small out of the way places).
I know that there are a number of crystal mines that you can go and dig at that are on the route. If anyone can recommend places I’d appreciate it.
Here’s my plan so far
I purchased a blow up mats for the back of the suv for $80. I’m thinking we can sleep in the car every other night which will save at least $100 per night. The nights we sleep in the car hopefully so we can rent showers there.
I’m watching sales for a plug in cooler for the car so I can pack sandwiches and drinks. We are also planning to limit our eating out to lunches which are typically cheapest.
Any other recommendations? We want to concentrate on the experiences rather than paying for luxuries that we really don’t need.
