i am thinking that boyd perhaps transmitted those things beneath his skin to his son ellis when they did the transfusion and fatima caught something sexually from him. this would explain why we have the continued storyline with the cicadas from season 2. perhaps the woman in the kimono is fatima as she would be once she’s aged like the man that was chained in the tower
