Anger, Lies, or Miscommunication?
Post Body

Current Challenge:

Trey has trust issues and has a hard time believing that David will stick to his work. Trey also believes that David will not prioritize their friendship and set time to work on things.

Sequence of Events:

  1. David is working on trust with Trey. David wants to commit to a time for a conversation with Trey. David asks Trey what time he wants to meet?
  2. Trey tells David that he should plan the rest of his commitments (work and other) prior to trying to set a time with him. David gets frustrated claiming he is trying to prioritize Trey. After some back and forth, Trey finally give him 6PM at the time.
  3. At approx. 9:00 AM, David tells Trey he will give an update at 12PM on all to-do list for the day. David is doing this to communicate more clearly and keep Trey informed in effort to build trust.
  4. At 12:00PM David sends a message to Trey and tells him that some other tasks came up that were unexpected, and he would more than likely be delayed. He asks Trey if they could move their meeting time til later. David also tells Trey in the same message that he would keep the original time of 6:00 PM if Trey wants to. Trey is frustrated because he believes David chose to move their meeting versus change other items on his list. Trey felt David could have told him that there were new things that came up and needed help to prioritize items so he could honor his meeting time. After a heated conversation, Trey told David to make the decision himself and to let him know.
  5. David sends a message to Trey around 4:30 PM asking to move the time of the meeting, but Trey was working and was unable to respond.
  6. David came over to Trey’s place at 6:00PM and woke Trey up. David began the conversation asking Trey to share when David would lie. Trey explains a scenario and David says it doesn’t count because David admitted and apologized. Trey asked David if he speak about the time David admitted he could only talk about times in which David would say it wasn’t true.
  7. David is frustrated and tells Trey that Trey did not help David today because Trey did not change the time of the meeting. Trey felt like David gave the option to keep the time at 6:00PM as he originally scheduled. David felt if he apologized and admitted to Trey that Trey’s suggested to plan the rest of his priorities first then Trey should have been okay with moving it. Later David admitted to lying again about the last minute task that caused this change. This task was not last minute but a task he had not previously done for someone else.

How should Trey feel about what happened that day?

What is David’s intent with these actions?
