My(31F) friend(36F) and I were talking the other day about how we generally dislike the person in charge of our social club, we regard him as misogynistic, transphobic and rude. We'd discussed how it'd be nice to have a strong female leader and how other people had mentioned the same. After I'd said this she said that maybe she should run. I didn't really respond and we moved on.
The problem is she is generally disliked by a bunch of people in our club. The reasons I love her are some of the reasons people dislike her. She can be a bit loud, she enjoys making jokes and she's got some strong opinions. People have other reasons too but I'm not gonna get into that now. I get that she's not everyone's cup of tea but I adore her.
My question is how to I advise her not to run? I don't want to tell her it's because people don't care for her. I also don't want her to run and get almost no votes. I love her to pieces and I just don't want her to get her feelings hurt.
TLDR: Friend wants to run for a leadership position without knowing she isn't well liked.
