I know I tend to use more formal construction, but am I wrong?

I was introduced to French in grade school and high school, and taught more formal constructions. (And told it was always le fin de siecle and never le week end.) Duolingo almost always suggests a less formal version of what I enter. But usually admits I'm right, even if it's not what they wanted. But I don't see a mistake here.
