I booked a large straight for $1750. They were a new carrier and they seemed good. On my accessorials I did 1: $50 for communication (should have done at least $100 since they were new) and 2: $300 On Time Pickup and Delivery. They loaded at 2300 CDT last night and were supposed to deliver 1300 CDT, 14 hour TT. I received the POD at 1816 CDT. They did not communicate at all during the trip even when I asked for updates and when I did get a response it was 1400 CDT and they said the driver was an hour out... then no more response. I called the number on the dispatch email and no one answered and then I called the number they put in our system, the guy that answered was the one recovering the freight and trying to deliver and informed me the other truck broke down. He delivered and now wants to argue about me pulling all $350 from their load. I know it was more of a failure of communication, but it was also a failure of service because of how late they were to the receiver. My customer had no idea what was going on and was catching heat. Now the carrier is calling my company tomorrow to fight it lol. Im in the clear as I work with my family and I already warned them. Am I a dick for taking it all or should I have put more money on communication especially since they were a new carrier?
Edit: I don't know why I got a down vote when I asked a question lol. I don't mind doing manual tracking as long as people do their job.
EDIT 2: Customer is getting all $350. I was able to get it resolved. Of course I wanted some, but bless him now and the next load will be worth it!
