I was just informed by DAT that someone stole the identity of my brokerage (small brokerage, I own and operate it) and posted 4 loads yesterday. They couldnāt specify whether or not the loads were booked or not. They gave me the email address the scammer used, my business name with google domain. I filed a police report. DAT has no authentication process for their brokers, unbelievable. They took the account down. Any advice?
Youāre right! My title was misleading, my businesses was the victim of ID theft. Thanks for the clarification!
I donāt even have a DAT account. I post all my loads on truckstop. When I say my operation is small I mean very small. Most of my revenue comes from dispatching for my families fleet (7 FSD trucks). I have my own brokerage to help out our customers when we canāt move the loads for them. Averaging 15-20 brokered loads a month but donāt really use the boards as we have pretty established relationships with some local carriers weāve met throughout the years. The criminal got all my company information on FMCSA and made an account on DAT. DAT doesnāt verify anything, anyone can make an account as long as they enter in the information info of a legal carrier/broker. Unbelievable, DAT rep said ā We are working on removing this featureā lol, DAT is making it so damn easy for these people to come in and steal from hard working people.

Exactly, I have a company website with a domain name. These guys made a DAT account using my business information. The email they used was my entire business name @ gmail. Iām sure they didnāt even post a phone #. Still donāt know if anyone moved the loads but Iāve contacted all parties (bond, insurance, law enforcement)
