I was parousing LinkedIn over the weekend and saw quite a few remote freight broker/agent postings. Most of the criteria seemed legit and normal to me (C2G experience, book of business required, etc.), not too far off from what I currently do. My goal is to make into the six figure range and be able to work from home, and these jobs checked off both boxes. However, most of them listed that they were 1099 contractor positions. The idea of trying to figure out my own taxes or pay for my own health insurance, IRA, and getting no PTO seems like a nightmare to me. Is this common in the industry or simply a way to weed out the bad jobs? Are most of you guys 1099 employess?
