I'm a caricature artist and I do live events. I did an event for this apartment complex on July 4th. Usually I get a deposit up front but I was unable to. I said I could receive it through Square since they have a company credit card. Apparently they don't do Square. I was told I would receive payment within 30 days. I signed up for their vendor payment service. I set up my account to get direct deposit. I gave them an invoice and another invoice for an additional hour shortly after. I talked with the lady in charge and she gave me the accountant's information to track the payment. She said it's out of her hands since she gave me the accountant's info. The lady in charge apparently can help out more than the accountant can. I'm just trying to track and find out when the payment is coming or check the status. I was told three weeks ago that the payment was processing. Still no payment and it's over 30 days since July 4th. I'm out several hundred dollars for an event. I don't know what to do. I feel like they "dined and dashed" and have no intent to pay. I feel like they're giving me the run around. I thought the payment was slow because it's a corporate thing. It feels shady and underhanded and I should have said no to that event if they couldn't pay a deposit. What do I do? What can I do?
