Back when I first started playing I only had four souls base, and then when I get the expansion it vastly changed the game in a really good way. In fact I remember it being like a must have expansion back then.

I think requiem is alright compared to the box? Between the two if you really wanna save money I’d just get the expansion, but that being said requiem is well worth it because of the rooms, which add a ton of variability, and the characters are pretty cool but in my opinion aren’t as great as the base game and the plus expansion. I say this because the newer characters feel more complicated than they have to be, or just complicated for the sake of adding complexity, but in a bad way.

It’s just my take but I kind of miss when it was just the base game and then plus expansion, synergies and strategies were more clear back then, nowadays the game feels more and more “munchkin” like
