For those of you who arenât using the deck ratios and just using every card (Iâve seen a lot of comments from people who strongly believe that saving the effort of setting up the deck ratios is worth an unbalanced game) I would highly recommend at least trying them
When I got the requiem expansion the game felt super âoff.â I couldnât really put my finger on it, but I think my main takeaways were that it felt slow, sluggish, and often times a lot less interactive than normal âclassicâ four souls. It felt weird and different than I remember playing it without the expansion.
So I tried the deck ratios and it heavily improved the game, no lack of boss monsters, no hands getting waterlogged with coins, and an interesting mix of events and treasures.
It may take some time to separate the cards in their respective groups, but itâs well worth it, and you wonât have to do that every single time, just shuffle the cards back in after each game and redraw. It definitely improves the experience
Man I wish I found that when I was using every card lol, shuffling was such a pain. It also made it very difficult to convince my newer friends that four souls was a â30-60 minute gameâ
I actually like it. One of my issues with using all the cards was the game went way too slow because of a lack of souls. There needs to be something to encourage people to go for souls I feel like, otherwise the game will take forever and be sluggish
Super good idea, loving all the house rules being used to improve the game (especially for new players!!)
Completely understand that viewpoint. I had the exact same mindset. I think I just mightâve had a lot of nostalgia for the game (it was one of the first games I owned, and Iâve played since freshman year of high school), so I was disappointed when the feel of the game was not how I remembered

Yeah I completely get the time consumption. I can see how itâs a huge turn off, it took me about 30-40 minutes to sort the cards and then another 10 to actually create the decks. However, I think itâs time well spent. We have time to sit down and sleeve 900 cards so why not? đ
