I found myself doing this last night on the Trial. First off, I know you should always drive clean on Forza, and I know the goal of the Trial is to work together.

But I think driving hard on Forza is fine; as long as it isn’t ramming, I don’t mind contact. I also don’t mind racing hard for a race win in the trial if you have the AI a lifetime behind you. I also do iRacing pretty seriously, so I do enjoy the racing energy Horizon brings when I need a break from iRacing.

Anyway, last night my Trial team was composed of 3 typical horizon ramming morons who use the walls as brakes; and 3 of us were polished, clean racers. The clean ones usually had a sizable gap on the rest of the field within seconds so we’d start racing each other.

They raced me so incredibly clean, that when I came in too hot to a corner and accidentally hit my teammate, I literally felt so bad and spent the rest of the race driving incredibly conservative, never really going 100%. It felt very similar to iracing mentally, except the games are nothing alike. Don’t get me wrong, the racing was really fun, but it just felt so weird for Horizon. Granted, still way better than racing ramming idiots.

I guess what I’m saying is that there really feels like there is no middle ground anymore. When you find clean drivers, it’s so rare and such a luxury that you want to take advantage of it, while not wanting to make a mistake to ruin the vibe of the race, because you know how on edge everyone is , so you end up driving conservative.

And then there’s the typical Horizon race that is just a ramming festival and you have no choice but to stick up for yourself and that simply just isn’t fun for me and I don’t take pride in the wins.
