I’ve heard that formula fed bebes sleep more- perhaps that is anecdotal but I am just curious how much other babies are sleeping and if mine is sleeping enough during the day.
My little girl is almost 5 weeks, she’s about 10.6 lbs, and she sleeps very well at night once she’s down (usually falls asleep around 9-30-11pm) and easily sleeps 8-10 hours overnight with one or two wakes.
But nap time is an entirely different story. I’m the car she will fall asleep right away but I can’t drive around all day to make sure my baby sleeps. Most days she does a “monster nap” of 3-4 hours in her pram after a walk, but either than that it is so much work to make her nap. It’s usually contact naps which is fine I love skin to skin, I’m just worried my little girl isn’t based on the guidelines you see. I’d say she averages 12-14 hours of sleep a day. But she is happy except for a small fussy time before bed where she becomes ravenous and gassy for a few hours - however I’ve heard many newborns have that anyways. Don’t they?
But she eats well, (20-24 ounces a day sometimes a little more), and is not an unhappy baby. So is it so bad if she’s below the guidelines a little?
Sincerely, an overly anxious mother.
