My FMD Choco loooves to go camping

Yeah, now he'll go into a creek almost up to his elbows, but no further!

It's wild how much our dogs look alike. I mean not surprising, but still. Does Waldo hate going in the water or is it just my guy? Choco loves being on the beach, but refuses to let the water touch him. It took months before he'd even go into a shallow creek to drink water from it while we're hiking. He'd follow me across any logs or rocks to cross a creek like I do, little circus dog. Got him DNA tested a few months ago using Embark and he's 100% FMD with some short strand DNA from a couple other breeds.

Yeah, being outside, anywhere, is Choco's happy place and I think he gets a little bummed when he's not. He's definitely better off leash than on. On hiking trails, he'll range ahead, but he'll always stop and look back, waiting to make sure I'm there and visible to him before he continues. Dog loves a side trail and following creeks (though he doesn't like being in water much). If we're hiking with other people (and other dogs), he always wants to be out front. Only main issue is that if he sees a squirrel, he'll go bolting after it and I have to chase him down a bit, otherwise he always comes back when I call. He was afraid of the zipper sound of the tent when I took him camping the first time, but now he loves being inside and hunkering down in his bed after a long day. There's always a point when he looks at me (when I'm sitting by the campfire) that just says, "can we just go to bed now?".
