Reddit is like a gold mine: there's a lot of precious stuff here, but you have to work hard and dig a lot to uncover it. Here's my Friday evening attempt at it.
I'm 40, living in London since 2020 but originally from Eastern Europe. 178cm, have extra weight but working on it, there's a face pic in my profile. Working in fintech at the moment. No smoking, no drinking, no drugs.
Don't know if these things define me as a person. I don't think they do. What matters more imo is personality. In that respect, I'm far from perfect, as can be expected from an AuDHDer, but I do want to believe that I'm a genuine, empathetic and kind person who's fun to talk and share experiences with. Most of my friends are ND in one way or another, and we value each other quite a bit because we can just be ourselves and speak freely without a fear of being judged. That's the kind of vibe that I'm looking for.
I'd love to meet an equally empathetic person who follows the path of "live and let live". Who isn't obsessed with being perfect and can handle other people's imperfections, who has other values in life than just material stuff and consumption. Great if you have a passion which you aren't trying to turn into a hustle. Mine is wildlife conservation, I regularly donate to various charities and it's very easy to make me cry and go full "shut up and take my money" by just showing me a poor suffering animal. I feel like I care about animals even more than I do about humans - there's so many of us already and we shaped this world to protect ourselves, but animals are often on their own and they depend on us for their survival much more than it should be.
But nothing human is alien to me. I still like good food, traveling to beautiful places (my gem so far has been a two month backpacking trip to South America, Colombia and Peru to be exact, from climbing 5k mountains with snowcaps on top to swimming with piranhas in a lake in the Amazon, it was absolutely unforgettable), watching good cinema and talking to people from all over the world. I play squash, but will happily try tennis if you keep me company. Like the subject says, I'm all about sharing all kinds of experiences with other people, and what could be better than to do it with someone you're also in love with.
I guess I'm a romantic guy, and I'm looking for someone who also believes in love and wants to love and to be loved. Someone who's stable in their attachments, mature emotionally (this isn't age dependent tbh) and is looking for something long term. We could still take things slow and see where it takes us, at my age I'm happy to make all kinds of genuine connections, both platonic and romantic, as long as we enjoy this interaction and don't hurt anyone.
I know this is a bit chaotic, and I suspect it's not everyone's cup of tea. But if you resonated with any of this, feel free to reach out. If you're from the UK, great, it'll be easier to meet up in person. If not, it's okay still, I made some great friends through Reddit and they are from all over the world, from Australia to Europe to the US. Just don't be a dry communicator and be willing to put in effort in the interaction - that's my only expectation honestly.
Looking forward to hear from you all, good Reddit people. Peace be with you.
