True love is rare today, am I right? I mean, it was probably more rare than the eons of Kings / Queens and the rest of humanity led on. Some people partner up for the tax breaks, even more when kids are involved! I'm not convinced I want kids, and am really just looking for a life partner.
So what happens to the weirdos like me (and maybe you) who have pushed so hard to get all their ducks in a row so they don't need anyone to physically survive? We're self-sufficient, put roofs over our heads, have our own reliable transportation, a stable job, yadda yadda.
We wind up alone on an evening like tonight thinking how great it would be to just lounge on the couch intertwined with someone special as we watch our favorite shows. Dreaming of asking someone how they slept as we try to stomach their bed-breath. Doting on them when they're sick, together through the hard times and the good.
On New Years Eve, I was at a friends house, nursing a painful flare up in my ankle. One of the sisters-in-law mentioned that I don't have anyone at home to take care of me. And it's true. I mean I have myself, but someone else would always be appreciated.
I'm not terribly experienced in the realms of dating, I've only had a few girlfriends, and I'm a bit awkward. In my free time, I enjoy long mountain drives, occasionally working on my car, tinkering with computers and home projects, and connecting with my friends. Human connection is very important to me.
That might seem antithetical with how I've prepped myself to survive on my own, but I'm just looking for my place to rest, if that makes sense. I've hiked thousands of miles looking for love. I've traveled all over the country, looking for love. I was in chat rooms as young as 6th grade, looking for love. At this point, I'm here to take care of myself, but I hope I can share this journey with someone else as well.
I'm actively working on my mental health, I have a few good friends that are amazing, and I game occasionally with said friends to keep the camaraderie going.
