It's important to have some kind of passion or hobby in life. Passions and hobbies are not idle bystanders to our livelihoods and necessities. They are not merely the supporting cast we relegate them to, more than the luxuries that we perceive them to be.

Rather, they are our very lifeblood. They are necessary elements of life. In adversity, they give us the spiritual capital and happiness necessary to fuel our fights. In the good times, they give us the inspiration to continue. Hobbies and passions motivate us, give us something to look forward to everyday. **Having a hobby or something to be passionate about gives us light and joy in our lives.**

I went through a difficult time 4 years ago in the final semester of college. It was the culmination of being harassed by a professor, heartbreak and the illness of a puppy. It was difficult but I stayed strong and things got better.I find myself now in a different situation, with problems of a different nature. I hope to stay positive to keep them away and hopefully bring about a change.

​

I spent this time explaining the importance of passion in life. Let me share one of mine. I love learning new things ! I love the moment of insight that accompanies knowing a new fact. I love the beauty of having multiple different building blocks come together in a way that just makes sense ! I love enjoying the surprise of learning a new fact or noticing a new pattern

​

Some of the topics I am very interested in are **Algorithms, Mathematics, Programming, Psychology, History, Literature, Chess and Sports Statistics.** However, of late I have developed a new passion ! It's geography !

​

I recently took on the task of learning the locations and flags of all the countries and it has been a blast ! Geography has always been a subject I've evaded even contrasting to my love for history. However, I am loving the new neural connections in my brain as I learn new geographical facts like currencies, flags and trivia (which countries' don't have words in their national anthems ?).

​

I went to a book store today and was alight at being surrounded by books. I was particularly excited at the books about geography that adorned the shelves. I saw some books about the history of maps and some about the geographies of particular countries including my own. I was very excited at all this knowledge.

​

I used to look down on trivia before as useless facts, particularly in an age where information is easily searchable. But studies have shown that reliance of looking up information too much weakens memory and it is actually healthy sometimes to have a solid framework of things committed to memory. I have recently developed a love for trivia and am excited at the prospect of getting better at it ! I am challenging myself to learn facts about new domains !

**I am not restricting it to merely geography. I would love to learn more any new topic and would even love to explain what I know as it would help me understand them better! For instance, I saw biographies and life experiences of lawyers, judges, doctors, movie makers, musicians and more today and they all excited me ! I would love to learn about new topics, new niches and new hobbies. If you are passionate about something, I would love it to rub off on me as I learn more about the topic !**

* Someone who has a similar flair for learning new things. A **lifelong learner** like me and enjoys learning things for their own sake and not just for formal exams.

* Bonus points if you like learning **trivia and fun facts.**

* Someone who **loves making notes, flash cards.** We can exchange our notes sometimes for inspiration.

* We will regularly **share the new facts and trivia** we learn. We will regularly **share interesting articles, blogs or podcasts** we came across and provide a summary of what we learnt from it too.

* Someone who **loves voice calls** and we could share these things on voice too !

* Someone who gets along with my **compassionate, empathetic nature. I would like to become fr iends** and would like someone whom I talk to regularly so we could regularly share what is going on in our lives and have occasional calls.

* I would like the prospect of having conversations that sometimes take on romantic or flirty overtones if you find my previous posts interesting or if we feel some attraction, but this is very optional.

My priorities are indulging my love for trivia and learning, companionship followed by tinges of romantic flirting.
