Like sure the characters were assholes at time but it really dealt with many issues around sex and relationships. They didn't do too many tropes and the main character wasn't a complete loser, he was just a regular Joe how had personal issues that he never quite dealt with and if he had never went through that attempt at transforming himself and becoming a new person (not a better person) that he would have stayed FA. I like that it didn't portray anyone as guilty or innocent or right or wrong and I also like that it clearly showed that certain advice is ridiculous and not worth adhering to.
I also like that the main character was a sex starved maniac but also wasn't a eunuch he just cut that half of him off and enjoyed life the best way he knew how.
Now sure there were some problems. But I think it's a classic and resonant with so many people because it respected it's main character and I feel the ending was perfect because it was decision and not an obligation and it with someone he actually cared for and he not only earned the respect of his peers he learned to respect himself a little more than he did before and he actually did have a lot of self respect. He could have done somethings but because he respected himself enough to recognize that that's not who is or what he wants to do that he didn't do it.
So if you haven't seen the 40 year old virgin see it. If you have watch it again. A lot of good gems in that film.
