Proud owner of a 2016 Ford Transit Connect XLT here. I love playing tunes off my ipod touch 5th generation and until a few months ago, I had no issues with SYNC working with the ipod. Now it'll play a song for 10 seconds, stop, then a minute later "usb disconnected" message flashes on the screen. My SYNC version is just the general version, no maps or gps trip navigation.
To try to fix the issue, I checked to see if SYNC was in need of an upgrade. I checked online and the available update was newer than the version installed in my car, so I went through that process and even after the update, SYNC still has playability issues. For a bit it wouldn't even recognize my ipod was connected. Eventually I got that issue resolved but I still have the playability issue. I would have to disconnect/reconnect my ipod like a dozen times for sync to play music without stopping 10 seconds into a song.
So I googled my issue and found that I wasn't alone. I did a master reset and a usb reset, yet the issue kept occurring. I live in Wisconsin so it's really cold out, so I thought maybe sync needs to "warm" up. Nope. Still does it when the engine's nice and toasty.
Then I found a suggestion that you pull the fuse on SYNC and after 10-15 seconds, you plug the fuse back in, forcing sync to re-initialize. That didn't work either. Still likes to play 10 seconds of a song, then stop. It seems SYNC disconnects from the ipod after 10 seconds as I checked my ipod and the play button was showing, so I pressed play and the song came through the iPods speaker even though the song was still displaying on my dash monitor. I'm not sure if it's SYNC having the issue or if my ipod needs to be wiped of all music and start over?
Anyone on here have this issue and been able to fix it??
