Post Body

For last couple of years, seems like when I go uphill or use high rpm, or maybe long drives, the truck starts to rattle and goes into limp mode

Most of the time the check engine light just “goes away” after I restart the truck.

This time the Check engine light stayed on when I started it the next morning.

Immediately took to service station. They called me and said it was a Cam Phaser issue. Good news is they said they will cover entire cost.

After few google searches I came to know there was a recall on the cam phaser.

Question is

  1. Have my cam phasers been messed up this entire time and that was always the issue i have been having?

  2. I bought the truck used in 2022. Did they sell me the truck already knowing it had cam phaser issue?

Edit!!! - note that I have previously taken it for regular service and maintenance, diagnostics for 55k service, and this was issue was not found until now. 🤷‍♂️

Any thoughts and input appreciated!
