2014 focus se hb not starting

Ok this may seem dumb but I want to ask for someone else's opinion. I got out of my car to run into a gas station to get something to eat before I went into work and when I got back in the car it wouldn't start. The weird thing was when I put the key into the ignition I noticed any lights on in the car and on the gauge cluster would just shut off and die as of the battery was dead. I tried to jump the car but it wasn't working. Any idea what it might be?
