Guys I am having problems with my edge 3.5 liter

1- while cruising, the engine won't rev above 4000, once it reaches 4000 it starts hesitating

2- while ideling in neutral the engine also won't rev above 4000, ( it does not hesitate in neutral, it runs smooth at 4000 rpm but still the engine reaches 4000 and never goes above it at all even though my foot is all the way down on the gas pedal )

I need anybody here please to try rev up their car while it is in neutral or in park and tell me if their engine stops at 4000 or if it reaches above that

The reason i am asking any of you to do this is becuz there might be a chance that the engine is designed to stop at 4000 while in park or neutral to protect from over heating or something .........so if your car also stops at 4000 in neutral like mine then i will know that my car doensn't have a problem in neutral it only has a problem only while driving
