I will write my setup/ideas/guide/strategies for anyone interest, I believe im on room 230? I hope to get to the 300's atleast!!! cause its getting harder now!
So as you can tell by my incredibly creative naming scheme, I run a monk/ranger/bard! Now hear me out for you BARD haters! The bard is bloody great! But lets start with the Monk
Monk is a must, the simple fact is! Its an intelligence/Strength hybrid so you can switch it up until you get the powerful obsidian wand or the Wand of death! (Both of which are really useful). His other main benefits are his party heal which is obviously very necessary, decent-ish speed, and his discipline ability which means everytime you crit or kill, you give your allies focus points. Which is VERY VERY Important for this build.
Hunter/Ranger: Everyones favourite!!! Obviously high speed, great with a bow, called shot is good for the accuracy shots, fairly fast, good evasion! Kinda says it all really.
Bard/Minstrel: Now this is where it gets complicated! Your bard is so important for a few reasons. 1. ritardando (the ability) is a useful early game way of confirming kills without allowing your opponents to hit you. 2. GOLD MULTIPLIER! This is so damn important, yes you're gonna have your bard hit around, yes you are going to have to sacrifice godbears early game, but late game gold multipliers can reach the 30-40's and its so worth it, and when you're confident you don't need gold anymore (which is nearly never) you can switch to all that great stuff you've bought! 3. high level bard items have reset, attack up, speed down, and rush!!! Especially the golden Lute!
Now, lets talk economy! I have a few useful tricks!
- Buy entertainment items. They're worth it. Equip them before you leave the shop, they ALWAYS proc. Royal Droll Hat/Gladiator Helm. Weirdly enough in this mode entertain works at the shop, don't ask me why, it just does!
- Buy Royal Crowns for your hunter/monk! Encourage inspire on all 3 members is VERY useful for consistency, levelling, and overall keeping momentum. The party armor/res/evasion is useful too!
- Buy Inferno Armor, its so damn useful, health regen, crit chance, attack damage, Damage reflection AND good armor/resistance. Why wouldn't you buy this. Sure you lose accuracy, but your damage/crit numbers make up for this majorly.
- Not necessary, but one distraction item can be semi-useful for breaking crit abilities from enemies!
- BUY GODSBEARDS ALWAYS, Sometimes its worth only buying 2 if you really need that 1 item, but make sure you buy some to stock up, even if you've got a lot already. Rooms can be incredibly hard later, and you should aim at using only 3 per floor, but if you HAVE to use more, you might aswell, cause lives are important.
My current setup just as an added bonus:
Monk:
- Wand of Death
- Aegis of Husher
- Inferno Armor
- Royal Crown
- Inferno Greaves
- Ms. Kitty's Special
- Amulet of Souls (lucky drop)
Hunter:
- Royal Bow (I used Waldhar's Wrath for the majority of the run) but reset/speed down was important
- Inferno Armor
- Royal Crown
- Assasin Boots
- Polly The Parrot
- Blued Medallion
Minstrel:
- Golden Lute (Was frozen Keytar or whatever its called for most of the run)
- Dream Coat
- Princess Hat
- Dream Boots
- Maximus
- Golden Ruff
I am progressing slowly and only doing like 1-2 floor a day as I work, but going pretty well! Wish me luck folks! Will keep you updated! :3
