Okay. I have a tendency to over-editorialize and give too much information, so I will just give you the basics.
I just moved. Before this, my 2i4 worked fine for recording, listening to music, gaming, everything. Mostly. What I mean is this is a new problem. I set it up in my new place. Same computer, same everything. Nothing changed except where I live and the wifi network.
I turn my computer on and fire up Spotify. The audio is crackly, choppy, and stuttery. I try to go to the Focusrite menu but it says it can't find the drivers. I uninstall and reinstall them.
After a few uninstalls and reinstalls, I pull up the menu. Sample and buffers are set to 48000 / 192, which I think is what I had them at previously. I open up Spotify. Same problem. I go to Youtube. Same problem. I play files on my computer. Same problem. I start with locally stored files and finally set the sample rate and buffers to 48000 / 1024. This gets the audio from youtube and any locally stored file crystal clear. Great. I fire up Spotify. Songs are playing at 50% speed, tons of static. I adjust the sample rate and buffers to 44100 / 192. This helps a little bit, but now youtube and locally stored files are back to being choppy. I open up Reaper. Audio playback is choppy and recording cuts in and out until I set sample rate and buffers to 44100 / 1024. Each program now appears to need its own settings, absolutely out of the blue.
What the hell is going on?
