My goal is to play shakuhachi (down the road), but I'm a fan of traditional folk (especially Asian) flute music generally. I've never played flute before and only have a rudimentary understanding of playing music from electric bass I picked up 6 months ago (no formal lessons). I imagine I can get a good start using Youtube, Google, and practicing, but I'd like some input of which instrument (preferably wood, no more than $100 if that's reasonable, yokobue?) to start with given the genre I'm shooting for and any pertinent resources you may be able to recommend in this style. Thanks!
