Quiet day with not much to report. I wanted to add a note on our running back room given Bailey's commitment. Plus some speculation about our coaching hires.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Also, thank you to all the kind folks giving love and awards to these. It's not necessary--I really just like helping to keep this community talking--but it is appreciated and humbling.

I. Running Back Room

It was announced today that 3* Emani Bailey, formerly of the Rajin Cajuns, will be transferring to TCU, where his brother plays. I wrote about him here. That leaves us with fewer options for an add'l RB after landing Etienne last night. I'd like to see us take 2 here. Obviously we're still pursuing Citizen, as has been amply covered. I think our other guy to keep an eye on, at least for now in the process, is transferring Freshman Montrell Johnson, a former 3* (0.8527) out of New Orleans, who played a season for the Ragin Cajuns. From what I'm reading it seems there's a good chance this is our target if we miss on Citizen. Note that he has received a bump and as a transfer is a 4* (0.9000)

Per On3: "The freshman from New Orleans racked up 838 yards and 12 touchdowns as a true freshman, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He reeled in six receptions for 53 yards as well. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound ball carrier has yet to report any offers, but the Gators are certainly keeping tabs. He ran for a season-high 150 yards and two touchdowns during ULL’s 28-27 victory over Arkansas State."

II. Coaching Announcements - SPECULATION

I know everyone is eager for us to fill out the remaining coaching staff. I sure am. I think that anyone who says they know what/when here is full of shit, but I just wanted to add what I've been seeing.

Per the Athletic, we are looking at Rob Sale of the Giants for OL, Eric Henderson of the Rams for DL, and Karl Scott of the Vikings for Co-DC/ILB. We had perhaps been looking at Rumph of the Bears to coach OLB, but that spot is gone. So, if the Athletic is to be believed, we're looking at Sale, Henderson, and Scott.

I'd read a couple of things on this, including Bama making a late play for Scott.

With the NFL season ending, it's fair to wonder if we will get these announcements soon. Folks on Swamp247's board seem to be expecting these announcements to come as early as tomorrow. The guy saying it over there is someone that seems to have a reputation for being right a lot. I cannot emphasize enough that this is rank speculation and I'm not endorsing it. I will say, though, that given our big recruiting weekend coming up, it makes intuitive sense to me that any of the above folks who could be announced--or alternates if we missed on them--would be announced before then so that we have even more folks on campus this weekend, working on kids. I don't follow the NFL closely at all, but I believe the Giants and Vikings seasons are over, so if those agreements have indeed been reached it would make a lot of sense to announce those guys this week.
